While pregnant, you will slowly get larger, meaning that after just a few months you’ll no longer be able to wear your regular clothes, not even the baggy or stretchy ones. Most women will have to start thinking about buying maternity clothes once they’re into their second trimester. The majority of maternity clothes are designed to be comfortable and to fit you during all stages but there are many different things you have to remember while shopping for maternity clothes.

When you shop for maternity wear, you need to remember to buy the correct size. You should buy the size you were before you were pregnant as the companies will size their clothes based on how you will expand during pregnancy. However, if you are having twins it is best to buy the next size up as you will have a larger bump than a regular pregnancy. You also need to make sure that the clothes will stretch. A good way to find this out is to look at the percentage of elastin or spandex – ideally it should be four to ten percent.
You also want to make sure the style will look good when you shop for maternity wear, making sure the tops are not too closely fitted and making sure that any skirts or dresses are longer than your knee, because as your bump gets bigger, it will shorten the length. You also want to avoid certain looks such as stripes or large patterns as these will highlight your size and can often make you look even larger.
It is best to shop for maternity wear in person as that way you can try the clothes on to make sure it fits comfortably and will cover the bump well enough. You can also check to make sure that the clothes suit you. Saying that, you will probably find better deals online.
The top places to shop for maternity wear range from stores such as the New Look maternity section or dorothy perkins maternity wear. This appeals to many people as it means they can continue to shop at their favourite store while pregnant, without having to search for hard-to-find specialist stores. There is of course also the specialist stores which exclusively stock maternity wear, most of it is brand name maternity wear. The downfall of this though is that it can often be very expensive for clothes you will only wear for a few months. If you still want brand names such as calvin klein maternity wear then you can always try eBay where you can easily find clothes for cheap and sometimes it has barely been worn. All this can be done from home to save the hassle of going out shopping. There is also a larger selection online and it is much easier to find specific types of maternity wear such as plus sized maternity wear.
So, as you can see, when you shop for maternity wear there are many things to consider such as the size and shape, and also many places to choose from such as high-street retailers or online. In the end, it is up to the individual how they shop for their maternity wear as everybody has different tastes and different ways of buying clothes.
To be sure try both methods.
